You don't have kill pressure until lvl 2 vs melee champions with Z (lvl it when you need it to trade that way you don't waste it on minions).

If you don't feel like trading in the minions, just a good full Q + 1 or 2 autos sets you up nicely for the laning phase. You can wait for your laner and hit a sneaky Q on him and start trading since you win any melee all in lvl 1 except olaf and darius. If you don't need to help your jungler for his first camp, try to sit in the middle bush and wait for the waves to crash. Once you get a kill and maintain a level lead, that's when you can start bullying and doing stupid aggressive things. Make sure you hit and can yank his Q though cuz by level 4ish that's the majority of his damage (check its base damage scaling). So maybe poke with Q when W is on a long cooldown and start looking for an opportunity when W is ~2s off. So for some match-ups, usually ranged ones, you just have to concede the wave til lvl 3.īut if all goes well by lvl 2+ and you have decent HP and the waves are at least even, you should pretty much be able to all-in whenever QWE are off cooldown. Take care though as you don't generally want to be dismounted for a trade at lvl 1, unless you want to shotgun for a kill or cheese out a timely W from a level-up. Doing so will let you all in with a level and minion advantage by level 2 or 3. This means not being pushed in by poking the enemy when you can, going for a yank + autos potentially. You'll want to control the lane from lvl 1 so you can all in by lvl 2+. Then you have the ability to charge at them with W up if they step out of line and potentially kill them. Once you get dismounted, just farm safely until you get about 1/2 courage. You have so much sticking power on kled, especially if they are all the way at your tower. Something that always seems to work for me is when walking back to lane, you can ult someone who is trying to sneak a plating before their back. Try and follow them if they run to get the Q to finish, as the slow makes it extremely hard for them to trade back. Try and prep minions so you can last hit them and attach Q on the enemy with the same cast. Just watch some Kled vs _ matchups for some of the champions you played against to get a better sense of how you should have played those lanes. It's basically a collection of full length games from master + elo for every champion in the game. When I first started playing him I felt the same way, so I would highly recommend you watch some games from Domisum Replay on youtube. If my team is focused on burst trades or late game siege, then I max E to stay mobile in fast fights or strategic retreats. Similarly if my team is focused on picks or high early pressure with either good peel or Alfa strike skills then i max my W. If they are either sticky, have good peel or are a strong counter then I max my E. If my enemy laner is slow with limited mobility or is weak to burst then I max W. Personally, I chose my second skill based on the other champions in the game.
The stronger w can even make you into a juggernaut unfortunately this usually peters out as the other team’s defenses rise.
This is because you have less mobility and have to with chose Better engagements or have better defenses to compensate. Maxing W second is usually used with a tank Kled build. As such, a lower cool down is very useful While it doesn’t deal much damage, it allows you to hit your W more consistently and lets you reposition to avoid sticky situations or keep the pressure on. Most people max E next because it is both your main engage and escape tool.
